Changed Ideas and problems

I have changed my idea again this time it is going to have a more original design. This time i am doing the same theme of waking up but this time there was a huge party and a bad event happened during the night and the main character is having flashbacks of the previous night.

I have had many problems in pre-production and in the editing stages. I have had the problem of actors nit being able to film. Also the editing stages have caused major problems. This is due to the fact the camera isn't registering on any computer one week, then when it works there is no video footage. Then when we transferred it to an external hard drive my work was missing from the work there.

Music

For my for I have chosen some royalty free music from the site Incompetech. The music works as it is quite calm and same tone throughout and has the bouncy feel to it. Then it bumps up and starts going serious as you see the final clip.

Change of plans

I have had to change my initial idea from doing a zombie comedy to doing a drama comedy. I decided this due to the fact I needed a large amount of people and it was impossible to get everyone at the same time. I also struggled to find the props and make-up I needed. So therefore in order for me to get a good grade I choose to go with a better and easier idea of a drama. My drama will be in the style of a skins and misfits type of idea. It requires less props and less people.

1.       Establishing shot of the Bede College outside campus area. Then pans around the campus. From the right side. (10s)

3.       Then ground shot on looking up towards the window and just see a few people stumbling. Left Tracks the person. (10s)

4.       See a normal group of people running into the building and one guy gets attacked and drops ( viewed from a long shot)  (10s)

5.       Get into a long corridor and there is props everywhere, follow the group as they carefully walk around. (10s)

6.       Then finds a room and they get in and start talking. (5s)

7.       Start cut between people as they talk to one and other. ( 20-30s)

8.       The door starts banging constantly the group jumps and go towards the door. (5-10s)

9.       Shot from behind the group and the door opens and there is 1 zombie viewable and two zombie hands on either side and 1 person rugby tackles the ones zombie and you see a possible hit and two people make it seem like they are hitting them on the sides. (10s)

10.    Camera cuts to outside just above dead zombies so they a re just in frame. Whole group gets out and runs down the corridor

11   Cuts to the end of the corridor. They carry on running

12.   Cuts to stairs as they run down. (Cuts between each section of the stairs).

13.   Cut to them running outside and runs to the refectory. Or cuts to them getting into a car and driving off. (title either appears on the window of the refectory or rear window of the car

28 Weeks Later

In this clip you see a group of survivors who think they are safe but when attacked not sure what to do.

The genre is clearly horror and sci-fi. Although again the genre isn’t the same it is a possible way i could shoot my film.

The mise-en-scene is important is quite important in this clip as everything looks to be basic and no electronics. It can be broken down in to: props, costume, and body language. The props in this clip are just basic things that most people have in a house food, chairs ect. The fact there is lit candles rather than lamps and other electric devices suggest that there is no electricity so it could be mid stage in the events. This adds a weird feel to the film as electricity has became an everyday thing you need, this makes the audience feel like it would be strange to go to a time like that.

The costumes used in the clip are very casual style clothing. This suggests they aren’t well prepared in case of an attack from anything, it also suggests that they left most clothe behind. This makes the audience think that they are more than likely going to get attack and possibly killed. The body language is also important as it is quite arrogant and cocky, as if to say we won’t get attack and if we do we’ll survive. This suggests to the audience that they will surely die.

The camera angles used are mainly close ups and medium shots. This was done so that each of the characters could be introduced and make you feel sorry for them. The audience relates to the characters through these shots as you can see what kind of person they are. The close ups mainly focus on facial expressions. This allows the audience to feel more like they are in the room with them.

The film stock is a digital recording which is strange way to film but it works for this film as it gives a strange tone and effect. This makes it seem like it was done for artistic choice as it makes it look like everything is infected including the air. The lighting is high key and this helps to create this overly flushed tone which makes everything seem infected. Also the light being overly flushed suggests that they don’t leave the house much. This makes the audience wonder why they don’t and what is so bad.
So therefore in conclusion even though it isn’t the same genre it has given me some ideas for shooting my film in a good way without needing to much money.

28 days later

In this clip you see the main character wake up in a hospital bed wondering what is going on.

The genre of this clip is a sci-fi style horror.  Although this is not my chosen genre it is another film that is close to the style I want my film to be like.

The mise-scene is again important as is meant to be a deserted city. The main aspects are: props, setting and body language. The props are used well as you can at all times see something on the floor which gives you the opinion that everything happened quickly. The fact there is papers on the floor suggest there was a large amount of panic going on whilst the pandemic was happening. This gives a sense of fear for the audience. The fact things haven scattered about suggests there was rioting going on. This gives the audience the opinion that this is quite realistic.

The setting is very good as it looks completely deserted and that nobody has been around for a while. This alone makes the audience feel worried as they are used to seeing London as a never stopping city. The fact it show key points in London and that they are also deserted suggest whatever has happened it has either killed everyone or they have been evacuated. The body language of the main character is good as it makes him seem worried and unknowing of what happened to make London like this. This allows the audience come into the realism of the situation and imagine the emotions he is feeling.

Camera work in this scene is mostly establishing shots. These are used extremely effectively as they show key noticeable points from London, this gives you the impression the entire UK looks like this. This again allows for the audience to believe in the situation. There are some close-ups of his face, these shows you the fear he is face waking up in this seemingly ‘new world’.  This amounts to making an immersive viewing of the film.
