Question 6

Evaluation Question 6
Here are images I created on Photoshop. This shows all the Physical and digital equipment I used to create my film.

The Hardware image includes: an Apple Mac, Tripod, Canon HD CMOS.

All of these pieces of hardware influenced my final film in different ways in production. Some of the items I used like the camera is important to the creation of my film, as without it I couldn't have created my film. Others like my tripod was just a handy piece of equipment I had access to in order to keep my camera shots steady.

The software image includes: Premier pro, Blogger and YouTube.

All this software was important to the creation of my final piece. This is due to the fact without Premier pro I couldn’t effectively or efficiently edits my film. And then I used YouTube to upload it as it was the most effective place to put it.

The entire tech I used was extremely important in the creation of my product. This is due to:

-          If I didn’t have premier pro I wouldn’t have been able to edit my film together with as much ease as I did. It also wouldn’t look as good quality as if I had done it in some free software such as windows movie maker
-          The HD camera was important to the creation of my film due to the fact it wouldn’t look as good quality if I had shot it in SD.
-          Using websites such as YouTube is important to the creation of my work as without YouTube I wouldn’t have anywhere where I could easily host my video

Question 4

The photographs you can see display my typical audience member. Here I shall profile my target audience and then begin to explain why. A typical viewer of my film would like:

Age Range: Fifteen to twenty-five.

I believe that my film attracts a young audience of 15 to 25 as the characters in the film are of a similar age and therefore my relatable to an audience. Also the themes of the movie would attract a teen audience as they are the kind of themes that are popular to them.

Taste in film/TV shows:

I believe my audience will like American films like Hangover and dude where my car. They will also like British films like Inbetweeners and TV shows like Skins. I feel these films are similar to my own. This is discussed in the animoto video linked below. I also think they will like the genre combination of the two genres as this brings to genres of film together and i feel appeals to both

How do they spend their time/what type of lifestyle do they have?

I feel the typical audience member for my film would spend there time out with friends, watching films and gaming. They would spend there money in cinemas, games and nights out with firends. I feel my film appeals to the socialites as this is the kind of life style they’d live. They would shop at where ever is closed. They would go out clubbing and partying.

Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The film company I feel that would distribute my film in the UK would be Entertainment Film Distributors for a theatrical release and Channel 4 DVD for a DVD/ Blu Ray release. I feel both these companies are good ideas as they have previously distributed the Inbetweeners movie which is similar to the likes of my film.
Entertainment Film Distributors are a good choice as they have a large amount of experience with distributing films effectively in the UK. They distribute a range of films American and UK like for example- Burke and Hare and Dredd. I would have a large amount of confidence in being with them as they have experience marketing a variety of films.
Channel 4 DVD are a good choice for a UK DVD release as they also have a large amount of experience in marketing to a UK audience. This is due to the fact that my film is British and they have a lot of experience marketing obscure films like for example Trainspotting a British film which is about a drug addict attempting to leave the drug scene. So therefore I’d have confidence in the company to get my film out there

Question 2

Evaluation Question 2
In my film the social group I have used is a teenage age group. I showed them as fun, out going and social. I feel I represented in a very realistic light. And not the stereotyping of all teens being bad and misbehaving.

A TV show that is similar to my film for there representations of teenagers is Skins. I feel like this is a fair representation of what teenagers are actually like. Although it is very dramatized as they appear to have large amounts of money at their disposal. I feel like this representation is what most teenagers wish their life were like.

Although for my film I feel I have gone with a much more realistic feel towards the characters. And there aren’t any other characters similar to my own. This is due to the fact character isn’t the overly attractive male lead. He is also much more typical in is appearance as he wears casual clothing that most males would wear. Also his likes and hobbies (as discussed here) these aren’t typical for what you’d expect in a American drama comedy or even in British. I applied these new kind of themes as I feel they appeal more to an audience.

Question 1

Evaluation question 1

Iconography

The iconography I used is the typical characters. I used characters that are typical of the genre. The character of Matthew is somewhat typical, as his outwards appearance looks similar to the appearance of that of a person from a British drama comedy.

Narrative

The narrative of my film is very original. This is due to the fact there isn’t any narratives similar to my own. My narrative is about a young man having a great night out and then can’t remember anything. And then some kind of event happened and a strange man kidnaps the character of David and they must rescue him. The Hangover is somewhat similar as such with a big night out.

Themes and representations

I applied from the drama genre: I used romance (won't be shown in my clip), life changing events, alcohol, and drugs. These themes are common in the drama genre and this applies to the theme I wanted to create.

Recce

1.    Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place (trailing cables/traffic/other objects )?
There isn’t any health and saftey issues as I am only filming in my own house and also the alchol used in the shot is a placebo (water)
2.    What will you do to ensure these risks are minimised?
No real risks bar the alchol which will be water anyway
3.    Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?
No as I am filming inside.
4.    Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get the background you want?
No as there is no real background needed beyond my room.
5.    Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect?
Yes as it is an inside shoot I need sort of darkness but I still need to see the characters. So therefore I have a small light a distance away so it is dark but you are able to see the characetrs.
6.    Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind?
No I don’t need any permission.
7.    Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio at Shiney)?
No I won’t.
8.    Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect?
No as I am in my own house
9.    Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B?
I am reliant on my friends to be ready for filming on a certain day. I have made sure I have planned for a week or so in advance. And I have some ideas for a plan B for a different day of shooting.
10. Finally, have you thought of every eventuality…?
I have made sure to consider what could go wrong and how I can correct and make sure filming will go on track.

New idea

I have changed my idea again. This is due to the fact i again had troubles getting people to film. So I am keeping a similar style at the start but instead of a normal montage I am having a phone and as the phone call goes on he gets flashbacks of the night before

Email to cast

Today I emailed my cast member Matthew for when we will film.

Audience Profile

Age- 16-26. The reason for this is that i feel this is the drunken nights and big night out age group.

Gender- Male and female- The reason for this is that I feel that it is a film that nicely portrays both genders. Also I feel the themes aren't gender specific.

Hobbies/Likes- Gaming, Watching films, browse online, Drinking, nights out with friends. The reasons for these choices is that this is the audience that will most connect with my characters. The reason they will connect more is that this is similar to what the main character enjoys and doing this means that the audience can have more connection with the character and have more of an emotional response

Class/Vocation- Student, working class and middle class. The reason for this choice is that with the student/working class is considered the group that drink the most and go out the most. I feel like this allows for the audience to connect some more. As with the middle class it is less of an audience but I feel they can still enjoy watching the film from a comedic stand point although they might not be able to connect as well.

What I will offer- I feel that to the audience I offer comedy and a relatable story for the audience to enjoy and laugh at. I feel that this allows me to appeal to a wide audience.
